Can export promotion reduce unemployment?

The paper examines the impact of export promotion on aggregate unemployment. We findnd that increases in share Export Promotion Agencies' (EPAs) budgets total exports lead to small decreases This effect is amplifi ed when efforts are concentrated sectors which country has a comparative advantage. On other hand, when EPAs aim at reducing unemployment by focusing their with high levels unemployment, then unemployment increases. These results suggest even if EPAs' pri- orities were shift towards this would be better addressed by a advantage rather than sectors labor market frictions.
